Masculinity isn't performative
Men often adopt clichè ‘manly’ behaviours, purely to seem more attractive to women.
– Downplaying your enthusiasm to appear stoic
– Pretending that nothing upsets or fazes you
– Only having ‘manly’ hobbies and interests
When I was single, I proudly shared my love of Celine Dion, sparkling wine, rom-coms, and Yoga, discussed my fears, and shared my excitement. And no woman ever questioned if I was man enough.
Why?
Because masculinity is about being comfortable in who you are.
Not how well you conform to stereotypes.
